With the deployment of the Pasargad 200 drilling rig in Phase 19 of the South Pars field, Pezhvak Energy has officially begun drilling operations for nine infill wells.
This project, commissioned by Pars Oil and Gas Company, has been assigned to Pasargad Energy Development Company. It is one of the four contract packages involving the drilling of 35 infield wells in the shared South Pars gas field, playing a crucial role in maintaining and sustaining production from this joint field.
To ensure the successful execution of this project and strengthen the country’s drilling fleet, Pasargad Energy Development has purchased and transported a new drilling rig, named Pasargad 200, which Pezhvak Energy is utilizing for this operation. The Pasargad 200 offshore drilling rig is a significant addition to Iran’s offshore drilling fleet, marking the first locally-owned jack-up rig imported into the country in approximately 13 years. This milestone is a key step toward the successful execution of the South Pars field drilling project.
The Pasargad 200 drilling rig is operated by Ostovan Kish Drilling Company, another subsidiary of Pasargad Energy Development. This company is equipped with skilled and experienced personnel specializing in drilling operations.
Following the successful deployment of the rig and to mitigate potential risks during simultaneous drilling and production operations (SIMOPS), special measures were taken, including platform layer coverage, the establishment of a closed system, enhanced well blowout control processes for upper drilling intervals, and optimized work permit procedures. With the completion of preparation processes and equipment installation, drilling operations for the first well of this project have commenced.
