Pezhvak Energy Engineering Services Company (PECO) successfully executed the acid–propped hydraulic fracturing treatment on Well Jufair-11 in the Sepehr–Jufair Field on 11 September 2026.

This complex, multidisciplinary operation was the culmination of studies and planning initiated during 2025–2026. It was completed through collaboration with the project’s partner contractors, including Petro Danial Kish (PDK) and Top Select; under the supervision and direction of the project clients, namely Pasargad Exploration, Development and Production Company and the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company; and with the effective support of Pasargad Energy Development Company(Investor of Field Development). The successful execution of this operation represents a milestone in expanding Iran’s engineering and operational capabilities for the development of oil and gas fields.

This achievement was not limited merely to the final few hours of pumping. Rather, it was the outcome of an integrated engineering, procurement and operations program—a comprehensive plan that began with complex, interdisciplinary studies encompassing reservoir engineering, geomechanics, production engineering, well completion, well stimulation and well integrity. Following the execution of diagnostic tests, completion of the engineering designs, procurement of specialized equipment and materials, and coordination among the various teams, the program culminated in the successful execution of the treatment on Well Jufair-11.

Transforming Reservoir Uncertainties into a Reliable Engineering Basis

Before the design was finalized, a structured program comprising DFIT and minifrac tests was conducted on Well Jufair-11 on 25 June 2026. The program included an assessment of formation injectivity, initial formation breakdown, diagnostic step-rate tests, calibration injections, and extended pressure-falloff recording and analysis.

The analysis and interpretation of the test results transformed subsurface uncertainties into an evidence-based engineering foundation.

Execution of the Main Treatment in Three Integrated Sections

Fluid preparation and mixing activities began on 10 September 2026 and, following approximately 20 hours of continuous work, were completed at 02:00 a.m. on 11 September 2026.

After completion of the fluid-preparation process and the pre-job safety meeting, the main pumping operation commenced at 02:30 a.m. In accordance with the approved program, the treatment was executed in three integrated sections: initial formation preparation and conditioning, acid stimulation, and the placement of non-acid fluids containing proppant.

The key execution figures for the operation were as follows:

* Approximately 1,900 bbl of treatment fluid injected;

* Pumping performed predominantly at a rate of 20 bbl/min;

* Surface treating pressure maintained within an approximate range of 4,800 to 5,300 psi;

* Nine acid-injection stages, each comprising 80 bbl, for a total acid volume of 720 bbl;

* Approximately 15,770 lb of proppant placed and retained in the formation;

* Treatment executed through two frac sleeves installed downhole;

* Controlled flowback initiated through an 8/64-in choke.

In total, approximately 1,900 bbl of fluid were pumped into the well and reservoir over a period of approximately two hours, fully in accordance with the modelling results, engineering designs and approved execution program. All stages were completed without any operational issues, and the main pumping operation was successfully concluded at 04:38 a.m.

Commencement of Flowback and Evaluation of Treatment Results

Following completion of the pumping operation, the planned period was allowed for the gel breaker to take effect and reduce the viscosity of the injected fluids. Well-intervention activities, preparation of surface equipment and cleanup operations were subsequently carried out in accordance with the program.

Upon completion of these activities and confirmation of equipment readiness, controlled well flowback and cleanup operations commenced through an 8/64-in choke.

The post-treatment pressure response, cleanup progress, fluid-recovery rate and well-performance data are currently undergoing technical evaluation. The project’s final results and conclusions will be announced following completion of the flowback operation, performance of the required tests and validation of the production data.

A Comprehensive and Integrated Plan: From Studies and Procurement to Design and Execution

This project represents an outstanding example of a fully integrated plan encompassing every stage, from initial studies and scope redesign to the procurement of equipment and materials, execution of diagnostic tests, modelling, final design and field operations.

Pezhvak Energy has previously demonstrated its ability to provide innovative solutions and execute difficult, specialized operations in complex and strategic oil and gas projects. The achievement on Well Jufair-11 is yet another demonstration of the company’s engineering and execution capabilities and an important step toward consolidating Pezhvak Energy’s position as one of the country’s most capable and reliable choices for the execution of complex oil and gas projects.

This national achievement is the result of the expertise, dedication and round-the-clock collaboration of Pezhvak Energy’s engineering and operations teams, the effective participation of the partner companies, the supervision and direction of the Pasargad Exploration, Development and Production Company, and the support of Pasargad Energy Development Company (Investor of Field Development).
