The DWOP (Drill Well on Paper) session for drilling the first well of 9 infill wells in South Pars Gas Field as EPDS project was held with the participation of project stakeholders.
According to the public relations report, the DWOP session for drilling the first well of the project was held on September 18th 2024. The session aimed to coordinate between the technical teams of the client and stakeholders for drilling the infill wells in the South Pars gas field.
In this session, various project stakeholders gathered, including managers from Pars Oil and Gas Company (the client), drilling engineers, geologists, petroleum engineers, and safety experts from Pezhvak Energy (the project contractor), as well as representatives from drilling service companies. Before starting operations, all aspects of the drilling process were reviewed to ensure correct, safe, and efficient planning for success.
Attendees included senior officials from Pars Oil and Gas Company, such as Dr. Rouhi, Director of Petroleum Engineering; Mr. Shafiee Makvand, Project Manager; Mr. Bonyadi, Head of Drilling; Mr. Naderi, Project Manager; and Mr. Jalali, Head of Drilling Engineering.
During the DWOP session, potential risks related to the drilling project were discussed, including technical, operational, environmental, safety, and regulatory risks.
Dr. Hossein Ravayeh, the project manager at Pezhvak Energy, presented the drilling program, which included the well design, drilling methods, equipment selection, and the operational timeline.
Additionally, Pezhvak Energy’s technical experts provided details on various aspects of the project, such as well design, drilling fluids, cementing, well completion, perforation, stimulation, and production.
Safety and environmental experts from the company also shared their assessment of potential hazards and environmental impacts of the drilling operations, along with safety protocols and emergency response plans.
Attention was also given to regulatory requirements, ensuring the availability of proper equipment, materials, and qualified personnel for the drilling operations.
Furthermore, the new offshore rig “Pasargad 200,” owned by Pasargad Energy, was introduced, which will be operated by Ostovan Kish Drilling Company. The rig’s deployment and positioning at the SPD19A production platform were discussed.
With the arrival of the Pasargad 200 rig in Iran in the coming days, Pasargad Energy’s drilling fleet will expand to two rigs. Given the shortage of jack-up rigs in the country, the addition of this new rig is considered a significant achievement for Pasargad Energy Group.
At the end of the session, optimal solutions for addressing upcoming challenges and reducing potential risks in SIMOPS (Simultaneous Drilling and Production) operations were summarized and approved by the client. Regular follow-up sessions were also scheduled to track progress, address any issues, and ensure the safety and control of the drilling operations.
Pasargad Energy Group and Pezhvak Energy, with the help of experienced and specialized teams, are committed to executing this project with the highest quality and in the shortest possible time. They aim to make a significant contribution to the development of the gas industry in the country through the successful completion of this project.
Drilling of 9 infill wells in South Pars Gas Field as EPDS project, contracted by Pars Oil and Gas Company and led by Pasargad Energy Group (Pezhvak Energy), is one of the four contract packages for drilling 35 infill wells in the shared South Pars field. The successful completion of this project will contribute to the development of the gas industry, maintain production from the shared field with Qatar, and boost the country's economic growth. Given the importance of addressing the national gas supply imbalance, all drilling service companies are expected to perform with high efficiency and effectiveness.
