According to Pezhvak’s PR report, the drilling of infill wells in the South Pars gas field, commissioned by Pars Oil and Gas Company, officially started yesterday (Monday, Esfand 7, 1402). Pezhvak Energy Engineering Services is the contractor in this project.

This project is the last package of four contract packages for the drilling of 35 infill wells in the South Pars joint field, the full implementation of which will help the development of the gas industry, the maintenance of production from the joint field with Qatar, and the economic growth of the country.

Alireza Sadeghabadi, CEO of Pasargad Energy Development Company, stated that Pasargad Energy Development Group will use the capacity of all its subsidiaries in the upstream sector of the oil industry to achieve the goals of this project, and added: I hope we can create a favorable road map to carry out this national project.

In addition, Abbas Rouhi, director of oil and gas engineering at Pars Oil and Gas Company, pointed out the importance of the South Pars joint field in providing 70% of the country's gas consumption and said: Currently, Iran's daily production capacity from this joint field has reached 705 million cubic meters and according to the statistics received, Qatar also collects 625 million cubic meters of gas from this field daily.

He discussed the future activities to maintain production from this joint field and said: drilling of infill wells is one of these activities. The contract for drilling 35 infill wells in form of four packages were assigned to qualified contractors in the upstream sector of the oil and gas industry.

The director of oil and gas engineering of Pars Oil and Gas Company added: These 35 wells are divided into four packages and assigned to POSCO (the first package with drilling eight wells), PetroIran Development (the second package with nine wells), North Drilling (the third package with nine wells) Wells) and Pasargad Energy Development Group (fourth package with 9 wells).

Rouhi said: With the implementation of this project and the complete drilling of 35 infill wells, the capacity of gas production from the South Pars joint field will be increased, which will significantly contribute to reducing the country's gas imbalance.

Rouhi from Pars Oil and Gas Company expressed hope that with the plans made by Pasargad Energy Development Company, the first drilling rig for this project will move towards Iranian waters in June next year and be established in South Pars field in July.

He regards the use of knowledge management and artificial intelligence to be effective in improving the performance of drilling operations and reducing drilling time and costs, and said: Domestic companies should use current knowledge to analyze drilling data with the aim of reducing obvious and hidden lost time and optimizing drilling.

The Director of Oil and Gas Engineering of Pars Oil and Gas Company emphasized the necessity of revising the drilling and completion programs of the wells and said: Examining the nearby wells and studying the published scientific articles regarding Qatar's activities in the North Gonbad field can help to benefit from the experiences of international companies in this field.

Rouhi listed the time constraints of project implementation and the need to supply gas according to the plan approved by the Ministry of Petroleum among the challenges and risks of this project and said: Avoiding the use of low-quality and uncertain drilling products, optimizing drilling parameters, revising past drilling plans and reducing wasted time are among the other requirements of this project, which are expected to be minimized with the efforts of the contracting team and comprehensive support from the employer.

He considered it necessary to benefit from the lessons learned from the drilling of more than 400 wells in the South Pars field and emphasized the need for very precise logistics coordination in order to prevent interruptions caused by the non-arrival of goods, services and fuel required by the drilling rig.

Abbas Rouhi announced the acidification of 114 completed wells in South Pars as one of the company's other measures to prevent production drop and said: these activities are being pursued with greater speed and in parallel, the discussions related to the tenders are being pursued and carried out.

Later in the meeting, Ali Khajavi, the representative of Pasargad Energy Development Company which is the contractor for the project of drilling 9 infill wells at the South Pars gas field, referring to the increasing demand for gas from the domestic perspective and the competition with the Qatari partner in the joint field from the international perspective, said: Pasargad Energy Development Company is responsible for a small part of this competition in the joint field, and we will try to fulfill our obligations with the best quality and according to the project schedule.

He announced the duration of this project as 33 months and said: 9 wells will be drilled in platforms of phase 19, 20, 7 and 3.

Khajavi announced the basic directions in the implementation of the project to be maintaining safety and environmental protection, paying attention to social responsibilities, promoting optimal project management and strengthening the capacities of the country's contractors and added: about 96% of this contract is defined in the EPD sector and about 4% in the EPC sector.

The representative of Pasargad Energy Development Company in the drilling project of 9 infill wells of the South Pars gas field noted: an experienced, coherent, integrated and empathetic team that takes care of needs of the project as quickly as possible has been formed and there is a lot of unity to successfully carry it.
