Following the successful drilling and commissioning of the first well at the SPD19A platform location, Pasargad Energy Company spudded the Pasargad-200 drilling rig at the second drilling location of the project on the SPD3 platform on 30/05/1404 (Iranian calendar). The drilling of this well was completed within 102 days to a final depth of 5,121 meters in the Upper Dalan Formation, with a maximum inclination of 72 degrees, marking it as the deepest well ever drilled on this platform. Previously, the maximum recorded drilling depth on the SPD3 platform, achieved by Total, was 4,547 meters.
While foreign companies, including Total, had refrained from drilling with inclinations exceeding ±55 degrees in the South Pars gas field due to risks associated with wellbore instability and pipe sticking in the Dashtak shale Formation, this milestone was successfully achieved on SPD3 by the highly capable experts of the Pasargad Energy Group.
In addition, an extensive matrix acidizing operation was successfully carried out on the well, involving the pumping of approximately 5,000 barrels of 28% acid along with diverter. Following well cleanup, the well was handed over to the production platform.
