The technical engineering team of the South Pars Infill Well Drilling Project at Pezhvak Energy Engineering Services Company has conducted a groundbreaking study aimed at enhancing drilling performance and reducing drilling time. This review article compares the mud motor and the rotary steerable system (RSS) as two main directional drilling methods to be considered for optimizing Directional Drilling operation of 12-1/4” hole section. The results show that the application of RSS in comparison with conventional mud motors not only gives technical advantages but also has an economic advantage.
Based on the findings of this research, Pezhvak Energy intends to use a rotary steerable system in the drilling of wells for the drilling project of nine infill wells in South Pars, with the aim of increasing speed and improving drilling performance.
The findings of this research have been published in the American journal Petroleum and Chemical Industry International, an ISI-indexed journal recognized as a reputable international publication in petroleum and energy engineering.
Beyond this study, recently, Mr. Koorosh Tookallo, a senior project expert, was selected by BP International as a scientific reviewer for the evaluation of a drilling book. He carried out this scientific activity under the name of Pezhvak Energy and received the prestigious Excellence in Peer-Reviewing certificate from BP International.
