A Story of Overcoming Challenges and Transforming Hidden Potential into Sustainable Value

A commemorative sculpture honoring Iran’s first successful Acid-Propped Hydraulic Fracturing operation was unveiled, celebrating a landmark achievement accomplished in September 2026 (Shahrivar 1405) at Jofeir-11 Well in the Sepehr and Jofeir Oil Field. The operation was designed, engineered, and executed by Pezhvak Energy Engineering Services Company (PECO) in collaboration with its partner companies.

The successful execution of this operation was the culmination of complex engineering activities, specialized studies, the design and implementation of advanced tests, and the successful resolution of numerous technical and operational challenges. This achievement was made possible through technical expertise, innovation, and the collective dedication of multidisciplinary specialist teams.

Preliminary well evaluation results for Jofeir-11 indicate daily oil production rates of 1,200–1,300 barrels with a 16/64-inch choke and 1,700–1,800 barrels with a 20/64-inch choke. These production rates are approximately twice and nearly three times, respectively, those of comparable wells that have not undergone hydraulic fracturing.

The significance of this achievement extends far beyond increasing the production of a single well. The successful design and execution of this operation have provided valuable practical experience for applying hydraulic fracturing technology to other oil reservoirs across Iran, opening new opportunities to enhance productivity and improve hydrocarbon recovery.

A Commemorative Sculpture: Telling the Story of an Achievement Through Art

To preserve the legacy of this achievement, a commemorative sculpture was designed and created, inspired by the nature of hydraulic fracturing and the concept that “Value Begins in the Depths.” The artwork symbolically portrays the struggle to overcome the resistance of rock formations, create new pathways, and unlock the hidden potential beneath the Earth's surface.

At the heart of the sculpture, a concrete structure represents the strength and resistance of the Earth's geological layers. Delicate branching lines, inspired by the wellbore and the network of hydraulic fractures, penetrate the concrete, breaking through its rigidity and stillness. This visual metaphor reflects a challenging journey that demands knowledge, courage, perseverance, and the determination to overcome obstacles.

At the culmination of this journey, where the pathways reach the surface, the “Zal” flower blossoms—a mythical and enduring flower that requires minimal water and soil and can come to life with just a few drops of water. Its presence symbolizes life, sustainability, resilience, and the realization of efforts that began deep beneath the surface.

The combination of concrete, the fracture network, and the Zal flower creates a unified artistic narrative that captures the philosophy behind this achievement: overcoming adversity, opening new pathways, and transforming limitations into opportunities for growth and flourishing.

Beyond commemorating the success of an industrial operation, this sculpture pays tribute to the knowledge, determination, and collective efforts of the specialists who pushed beyond the boundaries of previous experience to make a groundbreaking achievement possible.
